SEDATION
We appreciate that many people are uncomfortable about their dental visit, and some of us have a great deal of anxiety about visiting the dentist or receiving dental care.

Our practice facilities are designed to create as relaxing an environment as possible and our team make every effort to try to reduce any anxiety as much as possible.

At our practice you are in control. Our dentists will always explain what your options are and give you all the information you need to make informed choices.

We provide sedation in the form of intravenous (I.V.) sedation and the Buckley Practice was one of the first dental practices in the U.K. to offer this treatment. So for those of you whose anxiety is more serious and impacts upon your ability to receive dental care, then you can take advantage of our sedation clinic.

Our anxious patients who have had their treatment with sedation, tell us that not only do they feel more comfortable at the time but have found that it also reduces their anxiety levels about future visits.
The advantages of I.V. Sedation include:
  • It is a proven and safe technique
  • It is fast acting and takes effect within a few minutes
  • It leaves you feeling pleasantly relaxed and comfortable, both during and after treatment.
  • It alleviates anxiety,
  • It allows you to remain responsive to commands or requests, preventing you feeling ‘out of control’.
  • There is a short recovery time
  • IV sedation can suppress the gag reflex in over-sensitive patients.
  • It can be used for any treatment from simple cleaning to complex removal of teeth or placement of implants.
  • IV conscious sedation provides an effective, safer alternative to General Anaesthesia
Sean Buckley, Angela Northfield and Louis McArdle are all able to provide sedation care for patients. If you want to know more about sedation or would like to arrange an appointment please contact us on 0208 460 9742 or by email reception@buckleypractice.com
DENTAL IMPLANTS
Implants have become the preferred method for tooth replacement in many situations. They have proved very successful in the long term and avoid preparation to adjacent teeth.

Implants are essentially "artificial roots" made from titanium that are placed in the jaw to replace missing teeth. A crown, bridge or denture can be attached to these implants to restore a gappy smile, stabilise a loose denture or to make eating easier and more comfortable.

The concept is remarkably simple and in well-planned cases, so is the treatment. There is a large amount of skill and knowledge to actually placing implants comfortably and safely. We are very fortunate to have Louis McArdle, a consultant oral surgeon at Guys’ Hospital , available to place our implants here at The Buckley Practice. He was the first dentist in the UK to achieve an MSc in Implantology and has been placing implants for our patients since 2001.

We use a restorative led team approach, which is considered the gold standard for implant placement. This means our team of Implantologist, dentists and dental technicians work closely together to provide you with the highest quality implant and final restoration in the form of a crown, bridge or denture.

It is amazing what a well restored implant can do for your appearance, well being and self confidence.

ORTHODONTICS
Orthodontics is a specialist branch of dentistry, which straightens teeth into their ideal positions, to improve function and create a healthy and attractive smile. With shorter treatment times and almost invisible braces, Orthodontics is fast becoming the cosmetic treatment of choice. And treatment is not just for children; an increasing number of adults are choosing to improve their smiles orthodontically. In fact, we treat as many adults as children.

We provide orthodontic care in a state-of-the-art dental surgery with the latest diagnostic equipment. Treatment is offered by our consultant orthodontist, Dr.Daniel Burford. Your care will be tailored to your exact wishes and needs. Our aim is to provide you with high quality orthodontic treatment in a modern relaxed environment and we take a holistic approach working closely with your dentist and with our in-house hygienist to ensure your dental health is optimal during your orthodontic treatment.

There are an increasing number of alternatives to the traditional metal braces associated with orthodontics ranging from ceramic brackets, invisible wires and the invisalign system.

Whether a child or an adult, orthodontic treatment can provide excellent results and greatly improve both your smile and self-esteem.

SNORING SOLUTIONS
How can we help?
Snoring is more than just a loud noise. It leads to broken sleep for snorers and their partners and this can have a profound impact on their quality of life.
The British Snoring and Sleep Apnoea Association (BSSAA) found that 41.5% of the UK adult population snores - That is some 15 million people who snore.
Men were found to be twice as likely to snore as women so 10 million men and 5 million women snore.
But what people don’t always realise is that persistent snoring can also result in:

  • Daytime sleepiness
