Our 'CUT DOWN SUGAR' campaign is back!!!
12th September 2017
Last year we visited various local nurseries and schools to promote good oral health in young children and help educate parents/carers on the dangers of SUGAR!
We will be kicking off the new school year by doing the same again, but if you feel that your local school could benefit from a visit from our team at The Buckley Practice then please contact us on 0208 460 9742 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
Here are just a few of the SHOCKING facts;
A third of all children starting school each year have signs of tooth decay.
Tooth extractions are the biggest reason children are admitted to hospital for general anaesthetics in the UK.
Sugar makes up 15% of the daily calories consumed by four to ten year olds.
In England, children and young people drink sugary soft drinks more often than anywhere else in Europe.
There has been an almost 20 per cent (19.6) increase in children being admitted to hospital with tooth decay between 2010 and 2015.
Two in three children aged 12 are now found to be free of visible dental decay. In 1973, this figure was less than one in ten.
There are roughly 40% of children that still do not visit the dentist each year.
We make our sessions short, fun and very interactive!
Our visits are also sponsored by Colgate and we are able to provide nurseries and schools with lots of information about healthy snacks and correct brushing techniques.
Meanwhile, there are some very good apps out there for both children and parents...simply click below.
